I enjoyed Fire hunter and when I took my Anthropology degree independent invention versus diffusion from other cultures was still being debated for a number of things. And early SF in general was built on the lone genius. When it comes to dogs I don't think Kjelgaard could help himself, that was his market. , Stories about the evolution of mankind always seem to want to collapse things so fire, the bow and the domestic dog can be squeezed into one book.

All the best.
GuyGuyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12546069846136464138noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7898257022341976644.post-27903430951388136152020-03-30T05:31:12.125-07:002020-03-30T05:31:12.125-07:00Perhaps I should be embarrassed by my fondness for...Perhaps I should be embarrassed by my fondness for such a Just-So/lone-genius story, but Kjelgaard's "Fire Hunter" is still one of my all time favorites. I've always classified it as a departure from his dog books, but of course the protagonist does invent the first dog now that I think about it.paintedjaguarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12543155841059132978noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7898257022341976644.post-82540785410565073152020-03-02T08:22:30.655-08:002020-03-02T08:22:30.655-08:00Thanks Charles
