Despite somewhat mixed reviews for the series, I could not resist the chance to get the first six volumes of The Best SF Stories From New Worlds edited by Michael Moorcock.

Especially the Berkley Medallion editions with covers by Paul Lehr one of my favourite SF cover artists, in lovely condition. My first tribute to Paul Lehr's work can be found here.

And they did not disappoint here we have the Lehr trademarks, alien looking aliens, enormous machines, bubbles, domes, spheres, miniscule figures and distant cities. And some interesting authors from one of the most influential SF magazines of it's day.
Also a shut out to Between the Covers for a lovely packing job and a discount coupon.
Glad I proved something of an inspiration! haha. New Wave stuff is very hit or miss, and, you certainly won't be completely disappointed by all the contents. And the covers (I've never seen the Best SF from New Worlds 6 -- need a copy), so wonderful....
ReplyDeleteHi Joachim
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it, as I said about the Orbit cover you posted I love Lehr. The cover for volume ! was a bit different for Lehr but quite spooky. I hope you liked the Allison covers I posted earlier you were definitely the inspiration there I did reread your post while I was in Venice.
Thanks for stopping by.
Happy Reading
Guy
